Meditation & Mindfulness
"Mindfulness is paying attention to the here and now, with kindness and curiosity, so that we can choose our behavior." -Dr. Amy Saltzman

Coming Home to the Breath
Teaching children to come home to the breath gives them a simple, reliable way to return to safety and presence in their bodies. The breath helps children recognize and regulate big emotions without needing to fix or suppress them. Learning to pause and breathe nurtures self-compassion and trust in their own inner wisdom. This practice lays a foundation for lifelong resilience, prayer, and contemplative awareness. By returning to the breath, children learn that peace and grounding are always available within them.

Coming Home to the Body
Learning meditation helps children develop awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in a gentle and nonjudgmental way. By slowly noticing different parts of the body, children learn to recognize where they hold tension and different emotions. These practices support emotional regulation by teaching children how to pause, listen inwardly, and respond with care. Body scan meditation also strengthens the mind–body connection, helping children feel more grounded and present. Over time, meditation becomes a trusted tool for self-awareness, prayerful attention, and inner calm.

Deep Listening & Loving Speech
Learning deep listening and loving speech helps children become aware of their own feelings while honoring the experiences of others. Through attentive listening, children learn to be fully present without interrupting, fixing, or judging. Loving speech invites children to express themselves with honesty, kindness, and respect for both self and community. These practices build empathy, emotional intelligence, and healthy relationships. Over time, children discover that the way they listen and speak can be a powerful expression of compassion and spiritual practice.
